On 17 March 2025, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre officially launched Somalia's five-year National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025-2029), a results-driven roadmap aimed at transforming the Horn of Africa nation into a democratic, stable, developed and economically self-sustaining country by 2029.
The plan outlines priorities across infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and job creation. A central pillar is governance reform, ensuring state institutions operate with transparency and efficiency while strengthening the rule of law and the judiciary.
The NTP supersedes nine consecutive National Development Plans, adopting a participatory approach intended to restore public trust, build investor confidence, and provide the legal framework for sustained development.
