The Office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia successfully convened the Government Performance Accountability and Review Session on 12 September 2026, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre. The session reviewed the performance of 25 Ministries against their 2026 Annual Performance Plans, agreed targets, and commitments previously signed between the Prime Minister and respective Ministers.
Prior to the session, teams from the Office of the Prime Minister conducted a comprehensive review and verification of performance data submitted through the Government Integrated Performance Management System (GIPMS), with particular attention to completed activities, milestones, and supporting evidence. During the session, OPM teams presented the performance score and implementation status of each Ministry, after which Ministers responded to the results, highlighted key achievements and challenges, and addressed areas requiring accelerated implementation.
The review was conducted in two sessions and brought together Ministers, Permanent Secretaries/Directors General, heads of relevant agencies, and Directors of Planning. This enabled performance to be reviewed at the political, administrative, and technical levels while strengthening the accountability of ministerial leadership for delivering agreed government priorities.
The session represents an important step in strengthening accountability, transparency, and results-based government performance management, linking planning, implementation, monitoring, verification, and performance review. The outcomes will continue to be tracked through GIPMS, with particular attention to delayed activities and milestones requiring acceleration to ensure delivery of the Government’s 2026 commitments.
