Prime Minister Hamza Presides Over Graduation of 12th Danab Special Forces Cohort

The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today presided over the passing-out ceremony of the 12th cohort of the Danab Special Forces of the Somali National Army at Baledogle Airbase.

The graduates completed an intensive training programme at the Col. Hassan Ture Commandos Academy, where they were prepared for the demands of modern special operations. Their instruction covered battlefield tactics, combat medicine and technical skills, alongside Somalia's history and the legal framework governing armed conflict, including international humanitarian law, human rights and respect for the rule of law.

Addressing the ceremony, attended by the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Defence Forces, Prime Minister Hamza reaffirmed that rebuilding, training and equipping the Somali National Army remains a central priority of his government. The goal, he said, is clear: a capable, professional force ready to assume full responsibility for Somalia's security.

The Prime Minister praised the graduates for the endurance and discipline they showed throughout their training, noting that the Danab brigade continues to stand at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and the restoration of state authority.

The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Government of the United States for its steadfast support to the Danab Special Forces, describing the partnership as vital to building an elite force capable of defeating terrorism and securing Somalia's future.

Prime Minister Hamza also presented certificates to the instructors and the top-performing graduates of the 12th cohort, recognising their exceptional contribution to the programme.
