PM Barre appointed new ministers for Commerce and Industry and Public Works to accelerate the economic and infrastructure agenda.
On 13 December 2025, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced a targeted reshuffle of his Council of Ministers, appointing new leadership to two key government portfolios with immediate effect.
Mr. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan was appointed as the new Minister of Commerce and Industry, while Mr. Ayuub Ismail Yusuf was appointed as the new Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing.
The Prime Minister reached the decisions following consultations with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, emphasizing the need to accelerate the government's development agenda in the economic and infrastructure sectors and to advance national reconstruction and urban development projects critical to Somalia's recovery.
