Somalia Hosts High-Level Financing Event for AUSSOM

On 25 September 2025, Somalia and its international partners convened a High-Level Financing Event for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), seeking sustainable funding for the mission that replaced ATMIS on 1 January 2025.The Federal Government, under Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, has consistently stressed the importance of predictable, sustainable funding, drawing on Somalia's experience hosting earlier missions such as AMISOM and ATMIS.Funding has remained a critical challenge, with the African Union pledging USD 20 million and the United Kingdom pledging GBP 16.5 million toward AUSSOM's 2025 operations, even as the mission continues to rely on short-term commitments.
