Biography

Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke is a Somali-Canadian diplomat and politician who served a second term as Prime Minister of Somalia from 24 December 2014 to 1 March 2017. Born on 18 June 1960 in Mogadishu, he is the son of former Somali President and Prime Minister Abdirashid Ali Shermarke. He holds degrees in political science and political economy from Carleton University in Canada.
