On 23 April 2026, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre joined development partners to officially launch the Strengthening Urban Resilience of Displaced and Host Communities in Doolow (SURDHT) project, valued at USD 20.55 million.Delivered by the African Development Bank Group in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency and the Federal Government of Somalia, the project aims to improve living conditions for internally displaced persons across four urban settlements in Doolow, Gedo region, through better housing, water, sanitation, and livelihood opportunities.The Prime Minister said the project marks a milestone in the government's commitment to durable solutions for internally displaced persons, advancing dignity, integration, and self-reliance.
